Quotes

"You know I grew up with the same holidays and such, in an Orthodox manner, in a Kosher home, and all of that. And those are strict rules to live by that I think really shape your personality and discipline. I think they definitely, whether I knew it at the time or not, subconsciously it definitely seeped in to just create a good balance." - On Judaism

Why Is She Famous?

In addition to making a series of appearances on Canadian TV shows, Emmanuelle had supporting roles in television movies such as Harrison Bergeron (1995), A Champion's Fight (1998) and Alien Abduction: Incident in Lake County (1998). However, she made quite an impression in feature films like Snow Day (2000), On the Line (2001) and Wrong Turn (2003).

Emmanuelle Chriqui was born in Canada to Moroccan Jewish immigrants and raised an Orthodox Jew in Quebec, where she learned both English and French.  Emmanuelle began her acting career at age 10 in a commercial for McDonald’s.  Her interest in acting continued as she took classes during high school.  After graduation, Emmanuelle decided to pursue acting full-time. In the mid-1990’s, Emmanuelle moved to Vancouver and guest-starred in several Canadian television series, including “Are You Afraid of the Dark?”  Her first role in Hollywood was a supporting part in the movie “Detroit Rock City in 1999.  She went on to appear in other movies such as “100 Girls”, “On the Line”, and “In the Mix.”  However, her break out role was in “Snow Day” in 2000. In 2001, Emmanuelle was nominated as Best Actress for her role in “100 Girls” by DVD Exclusive Awards for Video Premier Award.  She starred opposite Lance Bass and Joey Fatone in “On the Line” in 2001, a role she was nominated for Film – Choice Lip Lock by Teen Choice Awards.  Emmanuelle was ranked #90 in Stuff magazine’s 102 Sexiest Women in 2002.   In 2003, Emmanuelle appeared in “Wrong Turn” and “Rick”, as well as an episode of “Jake 2.0.” Emmanuelle’s career seemed to be taking off as she has appeared in 3 episodes of the show “Unscripted” as herself in 2005, as well as the hit series “The O.C.”  These roles led to her performances in the movies “The Crow:  Wicked Prayer” and “Waiting…”, followed by the starring role in “National Lampoon Adam & Eve.” Emmanuelle appeared in four additional movies between 2005 and 2007, including a recurring role in the HBO hit show, “Entourage.”  She is slated to appear in “Tortured”, opposite Laurence Fishburne and Jon Cryer; and “Patriotville” with Justin Long, both scheduled for release in 2008.
