| Sugababes |

“At the end of the day, it’s about the music. I don’t care if people say the Sugababes are moody cows as long as they think we make great music.” --Sugababes
| Date of Birth: May 21st, 1985 |

| Sugababes is the dominant girl group in the UK, thanks to its four smash albums: One Touch (2000), Angels with Dirty Faces (2002), Three (2003), and Taller In More Ways (2005). Sugababes has scored nearly a dozen Top 10 singles, including the No. 1 hits “Freak Like Me,” “Round Round,” “Hole In The Head,” and “Push The Button.” |
 |
| Despite the ups and downs the group faced with personnel changes, we love how Sugababes has always had a cohesive group persona while still letting each member do her own thing. Sugababes truly is a perfect example of multi-cultural hottie harmony. |

The biography of Sugababes begins with childhood friends Keisha Buchanan, born September 30, 1984, and Mutya Buena, born May 21, 1985. Both Londoners, Keisha’s family is Jamaican, while Mutya’s is Filipino-Irish. Keisha and Mutya met when they were 8 years old at primary school. At age 13, the two friends met Siobhan Donaghy at a party. Keisha, Mutya and Siobhan decided to form a girl group together in 1998, and through Siobhan’s cousin, they met their manager, Ron Tom.
Keisha and Mutya were nicknamed “sugababies” since they were 11, and Ron Tom soon took to calling the group by that name, which became semi-official. In the meantime, he had the girls put together some demo tracks, which he took to a number of record companies. They soon signed with London Records, calling themselves “Sugababes” since -- unlike “Sugababies” -- it wouldn’t sound too cute once the girls grew up.
In 2000, Sugababes released its first album, One Touch. Although the record spawned some hit singles, such as the UK Top 10 hit and Brit Award Nominee “Overload,” sales were not up to expectations (especially considering the hype behind the new group). While on a promotional tour in Japan, Siobhan quit Sugababes, stating she wanted to pursue a fashion career. It was later revealed that, due to the bond between Keisha and Mutya, she felt isolated in the group, and Siobhan went on to follow a different solo career. Not long after her departure, London Records dropped Sugababes. |
