| She's been singing and acting since she was a teenager, but she's only been releasing records, including Words, Love In The Real World, and Followin' A Feelin', since 1997. She really made her mark in 2003, when she released her album Streets of Heaven, which is selling like hotcakes. |

| We have to admit that we don't usually get our sexy lady fix in country music circles, but for Sherrie Austin, we'll make an exception. She sells records, sings like an angel, and she looks like well just look at her! |

Sherrie Veronica Krenn was born on August 28, 1970, in Sydney, Australia. Her mother has jokingly said that she came out of her womb singing. Since mom loved country music, the family often traveled across Australia to attend country music festivals.
At 13 years old, Sherrie started singing in public, and her voice on "Jolene" and "Queen of Hearts" caught the ears of the right people. Australian country music bigwigs championed the teenager in her career, and by 1985, she was touring with Johnny Cash.
Then, in 1987, came the phone call every teenager dreams of; NBC wanted her to appear on one of their hit shows, that helped launch the careers of Molly Ringwald and George Clooney. They offered her the role of Pippa McKenna on The Facts Of Life.
Her family moved to California in order to accommodate her budding acting career, and Sherrie appeared in a few minor films such as Call From Space, Exile, Shadows Of The Heart, and An American Summer. But she was getting restless as music was her true calling.
In 1992, she formed the pop music duo Colourhaus with singer/songwriter Phil Radford and they released an album called Water To The Soul, which flopped. She felt that she had to return to her musical roots, so she sold her musical equipment to buy a plane ticket and flew to Nashville. All she had was a few phone numbers.
She started writing songs as soon as she landed in Nashville and it wasn't long before she caught the attention of Arista Records executives. She changed her name to Sherrie Austin, and released her first album, Words, in 1997.
Thanks to minor hits "Lucky In Love" and "One Solitary Tear," she sold 300,000 albums. That same year, she also launched a lipstick called Austintatious, from which all the proceeds went to charity.
Her next album, Love In The Real World, generated greater interest and the single "Never Been Kissed" appeared on numerous country charts. Although the video for that song was one of the most popular on CMT in the summer of 1999, radio stations pretty much ignored it. Furthermore, corporate reshuffling at Arista didn't favor the promotion of the album.
In 2000, RCA acquired Arista Records. Thinking that this was a good opportunity to take some time off, Sherrie asked to be released from her contract. Following a one-year sabbatical, she teamed up with her publisher Ree Guyer-Buchanan, and they founded their own independent label, WE Records.
Her first album on this label, Followin' A Feelin', hit stores in March 2001. As a lifelong Dolly Parton devotee, Sherrie reprised the song "Jolene" which became the record's sole hit, albeit an inconsequential one. She therefore focused on writing songs for stars including Dolly Parton, Hal Ketchem, Ronnie Milsap, Tammy Cochran, and Tim Rushlow. |
