Sarah Blasko was born on September 23, 1976, in Sydney, Australia. The daughter of missionaries, Sarah spent much of her childhood harboring dreams of becoming a veterinarian. It was thanks to her sister that she began to consider a career as a musician, and by the time she was 16, Sarah formed a band and started the slow process of discovering her musical voice. Two years later, Sarah was writing her own songs -- even though conditions in the band were worsening by the day (they even tried a few therapy sessions in the hopes of working things out).
Soon after, Sarah realized her future lay in the world of solo work, and the up-and-coming singer consequently broke all ties with her band members. She spent the next few years performing acoustic sets at every available opportunity, honing her craft and settling on a set list that she was proud of. Sarah began sending out demos to every record label she could think of, and although she received positive notices about her music, nobody wanted to sign her. |
