"I feel like a bit of a fake -- to me I'm not a famous person at all. I don't feel any different to how I did before all this."

| As one fifth of the original Popstars group Hear'Say, Kym Marsh experienced immediate musical success. Singles like "Pure and Simple" and "The Way to Your Love" were hits with British audiences and broke records left and right. Marsh, however, did not fit into this pop star mold and branched out on her own. Her solo album, Standing Tall, has garnered her much praise and Marsh has made it clear that she is just getting warmed up -- exactly what we wanted to hear. |

| Though Kym Marsh's career is barely three years old, she has already undergone a reincarnation from pop princess to independent singer -- picture Pink without the R-rated dance moves. This change has captured our attention, and hottie Marsh is now on the path to success in her homeland of the UK and hopefully, across the Atlantic as well. |

Kimberly Gail Marsh was born on June 13th, 1976 in Whiston, Lancashire, United Kingdom. As with many other singers, Marsh knew from an early age that she wanted to establish a career in music. At age 11, she began performing Whitney Houston covers. At 13, she released a record called One Kiss that was produced by a small label in Liverpool.
In her late teens, Marsh got involved in a serious relationship that produced two children, David and Emily. Now a young mother, she had to balance parenthood with a budding musical career -- not an easy thing to do. Somehow, Marsh made it work, singing in pubs and doing whatever she could to get her name out. The relationship, however, did not go the distance, and for the bulk of the children's lives, Marsh was a single mother.
Her big chance came when Britain's ITV announced it was going to broadcast a show called Popstars, where contestants would compete musically in the hopes of becoming the UK's next pop sensation. Marsh appeared at the auditions, made it through several elimination rounds, and soon became a fan favorite to be among the five finalists who would form their own group. Wishes came true, and Marsh became one of the members of Hear'Say, the Popstars band formed in late 2001.
The rise to fame was incredibly quick. Within months, an album, entitled Popstars, was released, and the single "Pure and Simple" became a smash hit. Chart-topper followed chart-topper, helping Hear'Say become one of the most talked about bands in all of the United Kingdom.
However, after a year of promotion, performances and a sold-out 36-venue tour, the group began to fall apart. Rumors that Marsh and bandmate Myleene Klass often argued were affirmed, and the pressure was compounded after Marsh could not get time off to see her two children. Feuds broke out and Marsh, looking toward the future, knew she had to leave the band.
Though the media and fans mourned the breakup of this flash in the pan band, Marsh was happy. She had fianc Jack Ryder (a famous actor known for his work on the British show EastEnders) by her side, and news was already swirling of an impending solo deal. Alone, Marsh made as many headlines as she did when she was with Hear'Say. She was paid over $500,000 to publish her wedding photos and then signed a lucrative six-album contract with Universal. |
