What makes her so famous?
The success of the all-female group Destiny's Child is well-known, as hits like "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Survivor" and "Independent Women" reaped astounding album sales, Grammys and general success from 1997 to 2002. Rowland was the first out of the gate after the trio took time off to do solo projects, making hits like "Dilemma" and "Stole." Her debut album, Simply Deep, was released in October 2002, and she has also tried her hand at acting -- most recently in 2003's Freddy vs. Jason.
Why we adore her..., as we do?
Capable of astounding men worldwide with her dance moves and powerful voice, Kelly Rowland has blazed a solo trail after steaming up the stage with fellow hottie Beyonce Knowles as one third of Destiny's Child. She has established a unique R&B style and will undoubtedly equal the success that she saw with DC in the near future.
Biography
Kelendria Trene Rowland was born on the 11th of February, 1981, in Atlanta, Georgia. Interested in the choir at the church her parents attended every Sunday, Kelly, as she was affectionately called, displayed a knack for singing at a young age. After listening to Whitney Houston, Rowland was convinced, at the age of 4, that she would be a singer.

After her family relocated to Houston, Rowland quickly became close to cousin Beyonce Knowles, an equally talented singer. When she was old enough to start auditioning, Rowland was teamed up Beyonce, LaTavia Robertson and LeToya Luckett. Manager Matthew Knowles, Beyonce's father, groomed the quartet and encouraged them to work on their style. Following a performance on Star Search in 1992, Destiny's Child was born.

In 1997, once the girls had matured and neared completion of high school, their self-titled album was released. Thanks to "No, No, No," a multi-platinum single that featured a remix by Wyclef Jean, Destiny's Child became an instant success story.

Barely getting time to relax between tours and other public appearances, the youthful quartet released The Writing's on the Wall in 1999. Three top 10 hits came from the album: "Jumpin', Jumpin'," "Say My Name" and "Bills, Bills, Bills." Recent estimates put sales for the CD at nine million, making Destiny's Child one of the best-selling female groups of late.
