It was barely three months after her birth on February 9, 1968, that Alejandra Gabriela Guzmn Pinal was already on TV. The Mexico City native is celebrity royalty, daughter of actress Silvia Pinal and rock legend Enrique Guzman, who hosted a TV show together.
It was obvious she inherited her father's genes when her family would gather to watch her dance and sing in the living room. At age 5, she was taking ballet, jazz and tap dancing lessons, endowing her early with faultless rhythm and a hard, shapely body.
She craved the spotlight in her teen years, but her parents -- wise in the ways of fame -- didn't allow her to pursue it until she finished school. In the meantime, she did some TV commercials, acted as an extra in soap operas, and lent her voice to the choir for the bands Kenny y los Electricos and La Union.
Her mother took Alejandra along amid her travels with her theatrical troupe, giving Alejandra a glimpse of the pressures and madness she could expect. Nothing deterred her. As soon as she graduated, 17-year-old Alejandra took part in the musical Mame alongside her mother. She knew she would be a singer. |
