"This is for the women who want to be me, and the men who come to see me! I was fed up with a lot of things right before I parted ways with the WWE. If everything was right, I would consider it, but I just don't see it happening right now."

| Model, actress and professional wrestler Rena Mero has a killer combination of beauty, brawn and brains. Accordingly, she's a woman who can think for herself, kick some serious butt, and look sensational doing so. |
 |
| Rena started out as a model for Guess Jeans and Pepsi before making a major career change in the mid-'90s. In 1996, she adopted the alter ego of "Sable" and became the then-named World Wrestling Federation's female champion in 1998. She left the organization in June 1999, returned in 2003, then was released from her contract in August 2004. |

Rena Mero was born Rena Greek on August 8, 1967, in Jacksonville, Florida. She enjoyed sports such as gymnastics, horseback riding and softball in her youth. She entered and won her first beauty pageant when she was 12 years old, and eventually became a professional model, working on campaigns for L'Oreal, Pepsi, Bongo, Guess Jeans, and others. In 1987, she married Wayne Richardson, and their daughter, Mariah, was born in 1988. Richardson died in October 1991.
In 1993, Rena met WWF wrestler Marc Mero while she was out dining with friends. The couple married in 1994, and the athletic beauty soon hopped on the wrestling bandwagon. She made her debut as "Sable" in March 1996, acting at Hunter Hearst Helmsley's valet at the World Wrestling Federation's WrestleMania XII. She would enter the ring herself to fight not long after that.
In 1997, Sable won in two categories at the WWF Slammy Awards, picking up the "Dressed to Kill" prize as well as the "Miss Slammy" title. In 1998, a feud between Sable and wrestler Jacqueline erupted after Marc Mero recruited Jacqueline as his new manager. Jacqueline and Sable had initially met that July at a WWF Fully Loaded Bikini Contest. In August, she and new partner Edge took on her husband and Jacqueline at a Summer Slam intergender match.
In November 1998, Sable defeated Jacqueline to take the WWF Women's Championship crown. In the space of just over two and a half years, she had become the most popular female wrestler in the organization. Mero's profile as Sable increased with guest appearances on television series like Pacific Blue in 1998. She was also featured in the pages and on the cover of Play..boy magazine for their April 1999 issue. |
