Born on September 6th and raised in Israel, Opal Anchel left the Middle East with her family when she was 15, and relocated to Woodland Hills, California.
It took three years of getting used to a new way of life in America before Opal followed her older brother's path and received a modeling gig with the Ford modeling agency. With a strong desire to act and gradual exposure, it was not long before Anchel could be seen in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 and Baywatch.
It wasn't until she was cast as an avant-garde woman in the popular ABC soap opera Port Charles that Anchel had a steady gig. The role of Arianna Shapour Thornton brought important women's issues to light in rarely controversial daytime television. Anchel's five-month stay may have been brief, but her portrayal of a unique character that had to deal with the trauma of rape made quite an impression on audiences.
There was no rest for Anchel once her character Arianna left Port Charles and ended the actress' tenure. Wild On, the E! network's popular travel show recruited her to host two episodes, where she traveled to Morocco and Cyprus as a scantily clad tourist. Anchel was also cast in the Comedy Central Thanksgiving film called Give Thanks. |
