Neferteri Shepherd was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on September 8, 1980. Her mother relocated to Boston when Neferteri was two, where they lived with her great aunt. Neferteri moved for good a few years later when her grandfather asked her mother and her to join him in California, because they were in a difficult patch.
Oakland was the next stop then for Neferteri and she has not looked back since. California was the place for her and she now calls the Berkeley area home. Due to the predominance of so many cultures, the expressive Shepherd does not foresee a time when she will want to move again.
San Francisco was where Shepherd got her start as a model when a friend brought her attention to a Play..boy advertisement in a newspaper. The magazine was looking for a new Play..mate for 2000 and was offering a substantial amount of money to the winner. Although Shepherd did not make it, she did beat out thousands of other girls to become Miss July. The audition that did it for her was held a day after she turned eighteen.
The opportunity to pose in an established magazine provided a career for Shepherd. After the issue was published, she did a lot of promotional work on television and radio. She was featured in several other magazines as well, in addition to other work for Mr. Hefner. Shepherd has done catalog work as a lingerie model, as well as for Hawaiian Tropic and Venus Swimwear. She can also be seen in several calendars. |
