| Nancy O'Dell is best known as cohost of the daily syndicated entertainment magazine Access Hollywood, a program she's been with since its 1996 premiere. She also hosted Nashville Star on the USA Network during its first two seasons (2003-2004), and has made appearances on several sitcoms and other television series over the past decade. |

Nancy O'Dell was born Nancy Humphries on February 25, 1966, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She entered South Carolina's Clemson University in 1985, where she majored in marketing and joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. In 1987, she won the Miss South Carolina pageant, and graduated from Clemson summa cum laude in 1989.
Following graduation, Nancy started out as a reporter and anchorwoman at WPDE-TV in Myrtle Beach. Her next gig was at WCBD-TV in Charleston, S.C., where she was a morning news anchor and crime reporter. After that, she was hired as anchor and investigative reporter for Miami's NBC affiliate, WTVJ-TV. She became Nancy O'Dell when she married Richard O'Dell, a doctor, during these years. The couple eventually divorced.
In 1995, O'Dell joined the syndicated A Current Affair team as their entertainment reporter for one season. When Access Hollywood debuted in 1996, she was hired as a correspondent, and eventually promoted to cohost in January of 1999.
In addition to her work on Access Hollywood, O'Dell began making cameo appearances in films and television series, usually playing either herself or a reporter of some sort. In 1997, she portrayed a journalist interviewing Tori Spelling in Scream 2; in 1998, she played a police officer on the daytime drama General Hospital. |
