"We are only at the beginning. I would like to be the new Jennifer Lopez. For those of us that live in a world as ephemeral as that of the fashion world, family has a fundamental value. I hope for peace in the Middle East, to be able to live peacefully in Haifa

Moran Atias was born in Haifa, Israel on April 9, 1981. After spending a few years of her childhood in Los Angeles, she moved back to Israel with her family. When she was 15, she won an audition in Tel Aviv to host Out of Focus, a show for teens broadcast on Israeli television. In 1996, she entered and won the Miss Globe International beauty contest in Istanbul, Turkey, and the following year she won the Top Model of the World title in Germany.
Atias left the Middle East for Europe at the age of 17, initially working out of Germany as a model. She was crowned Miss Israel in 1998, and later resettled in Milan, Italy, where her career really began to take off. She soon became a model for Versace, appearing in print campaigns and runway shows for the fashion giant, as well as other houses of design.
In addition to her work as a model, the Israeli beauty took the broadcasting skills she had honed as a teenager in her native land to the television screens of Italy. She has cohosted various national variety and talk shows, such as Matricole & Meteore and Carramba, with Italian TV legend Raffaella Carra.
Channel 5's Italiani, with Paolo Bonolis and Luca Laurenti, was the program that helped boost Atias' celebrity profile. While the show itself was not a major hit with the viewing public, her popularity as one of the program's five "bellissime" (beauties) made her a household name in Italy. More TV hosting gigs followed, including Superconvenscion with Natascia Stefanenko, Domenica In and I Raccomandati, which she cohosted with Carlo Conti. |
