| As any red-blooded American male knows, Melissa was the lead sideline reporter for Monday Night Football from 2000 until 2003. These days she can be seen as a national correspondent for NBC's Today show and as an anchor for MSNBC Live. |

Melissa Stark was born on November 11, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time the entire city was mad for the Colts, and Melissa and her family were no different. In fact, Melissa's father, Walter, had special access to the NFL club as the team's eye doctor. "I grew up going to all the games," she recalls. "He'd go to the locker room at halftime, and I'd go with him."
When it came time to attend university, Melissa went to another football powerhouse: The University of Virginia. Not surprisingly, she became intimately involved with the school's sports scene, serving as a producer and reporter for the university's sydicated football and basketball shows. During her summers she also furthered her journalistic ambitions by working for New York's CBS Evening News as part of their medical news unit. Her resume already bursting at the seams, Melissa graduated from the University of Virginia Magna Cum Laude in 1995 with a double major in foreign affairs and Spanish.
Before the ink had a chance to dry on her degree Melissa was off again. This time her travels took her back home to Baltimore where she worked as a producer and reporter for Home Team Sports, a regional sports network covering the Baltimore Orioles, Baltimore Ravens, Washington Bullets, Washington Capitals, and the Washington Redskins. |
