| Because she'd crush us if we didn't. Seriously though, Melissa is one big, beautiful, blonde bombshell. And when we say big, we don't mean fat. Melissa has sculpted her body into a work of toned art. She's one of the fittest women in the world and you could bounce quarters off her six-pack. Anyone have change for a dollar? |

| Melissa Coates has torn up the world of women's bodybuilding over the last decade. Plus, she's been a staple cover girl for numerous muscle mags including MuscleMag International, Flex and Iron Man Magazine. In addition, she's also blasted her sexy (albeit intimidating) presence onto our TV screens with appearances in a number of fitness videos. Oh yeah, she's also a wrestler. We'd let her leg-lock us any day. Although we probably wouldn't have much say in the matter. |

Melissa Coates was born on June 18, 1971, in Thunder Bay, Canada. She was the youngest of four children, born into a hard-working, professional household. Her father, Robert, was a doctor, and her mother Betty, a nurse. Two of Melissa's brothers would grow up to follow in his footsteps, while her sister, Mary Beth, would go on to be a university professor.
The self-reliance and personal drive that was instilled in the young Melissa was as much a product of her hard-working family's influence as it was from the fact that her parents had little time for her when she was a child.
In her youth, Melissa was fascinated by the world of wrestling. She used to sit alone to watch the WWF on television, and would admire the muscles and force of characters like Randy "Macho Man" Savage and his partner, Miss Elizabeth.
Melissa, a self-admitted tomboy, had always been drawn to physical activity, After reading a Sports Illustrated article on women's bodybuilding, she was immediately drawn to weight training. But no gym would allow such a young girl admission.
With her bodybuilding aspirations temporarily shelved, Melissa chose to focus her energy on playing tennis. At age 11, she decided to become a power tennis player, in emulation of her tennis idol, Martina Navratilova. She set to work lifting weights and power training, which helped her succeed at the sport. |
