In 2003, Luciana Barroso was a bartender in Miami slinging drinks for Florida?s jet set -- and then she met Matt Damon. The Oscar-winning actor reportedly fell hard and fast for the Argentina-born beauty and the pair began dating immediately. The discrete coupling surprised many in the industry because of its lack of star power, particularly given past Damon paramours like Winona Ryder, Minnie Driver and Julia Stiles.
That, however, was also part of the appeal, and Damon cemented the relationship on September 5, 2005, when he proposed to Barroso. The couple later married on December 9, 2005, at New York?s City Hall. The decidedly un-Hollywood affair was conducted in the mayor?s ceremonial office and was attended by Alexia, Barroso?s 7-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
Damon and Luciana had their first child, Isabella, in June 2006. On being a father, the Good Will Hunting star said, ?I have longed for kids in real life. I just have to learn how to be a disciplinarian. Now I?m good at winding kids up, but I?m not so good at chilling them out.? |
