| We have to admire Lokelani McMichael for even attempting the Ironman, let alone completing it year after year. But she gets extra credit for bringing her undeniable beauty to that traditionally unglamorous contest. Thanks to Lokelani, swimming, cycling and running till you puke has never been sexier. |

| Lokelani McMichael first made waves (and not just as a swimmer) at the prestigious Ironman triathlon in 1995. Becoming the youngest woman ever to finish the 140-mile endurance race. In the decade since, she's continued to compete, but moonlights as a model and television host to pay the bills. |

Lokelani McMichael, whose real name is Lokelanikuu'leimakamae, was born and raised in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Her family owned a local surf shop and, as a child, Lokelani would watch competitors in Hawaii's Ironman triathlon run by her home during the early 1980s. Although the young Lokelani originally didn't intend to compete in the grueling race, she was involved in individual sports as a child.
In retrospect, however, it was only a matter of time before Lokelani was caught up in the Ironman. Her parents were longtime volunteers at the event, and by age 12, Lokelani herself was helping out too. She worked as part of the water patrol, a team of surfers who scan the two-and-a-half-mile start of the triathlon, the swimming portion. As a teen attending Konawaena High School, Lokelani began to give serious consideration to entering the Ironman herself. |
