Born in Cranston, Rhode Island on May 28, 1977, Elisabeth Filarski exhibited a "go get 'em" attitude early on in life. Her motto should be "carpe diem" since the energetic, bubbly cutie left for Belize to be a teacher deep in the rainforest following her high school graduation. After returning, she hopped on another trip, this time heading to Italy to work once again.
This jet-setter finally settled down following her visit to Italy and enrolled at Boston College, where she began studying fine arts. During her years in university, Elisabeth was always active, leading the school's softball team to back-to-back Big East championships. As she was heavily involved in athletics, she had the opportunity to meet many of the school's athletes. One of them, star quarterback Tim Hasselbeck who now plays for the New York Giants, would become her sweetheart. After years of dating, they got married in the summer of 2002.
With an eye for fashion and a fine arts degree, Elisabeth was hired by Puma to work on its street lifestyle line, becoming the only female footwear designer for Puma North America. She gained valuable fashion experience, and in 1999, she made her television debut on the Style Network's Stylemakers, which she hosted until 2002.
Meanwhile, as an athletic-minded adventurer -- she has completed the Boston Marathon -- Elisabeth did not think twice about trying out for a spot on the second edition of Survivor, set to take place in the Australian outback.
As an intelligent, experienced and very cute candidate, Elisabeth was chosen to become one of 16 "survivors." When the reality show began its second season in 2001, she was immediately one of the most popular contestants. Strong-willed and sharp, she never caused too much controversy or rubbed people the wrong way. By staying mentally tough and forming the right alliances, she was able to make it all the way to the final four.
Unlike many of her reality TV counterparts, Elisabeth remained in the spotlight following her trials and tribulations on CBS' Survivor. She began hosting the Style Network's The Look for Less, appeared as a guest host on MTV a few times, and did commercials for Reebok, Johnson & Johnson, and Procter & Gamble. |
