| Although some might find it laughable to use the terms "trailblazer" and "professional wrestling" in the same phrase, April truly is taking big steps for women in what is one of the most lucrative cultural industries of our time. She has moved her way up from filling the token T&A slot to wrestling with the big boys -- all on the strength of her own initiative. |
 |
| Her spread in Play..boy's newsstand special Hard Bodies led to a gig on the WCW as one of the nWo girls. Since then, she has toured the independent professional wrestling circuit as a wrestler, making the fans' legs go queasy whenever she gets in a ring. |

pril Hunter was born September 24, 1971, in Philadelphia. Following her parents' split, she moved to the military town of Enterprise, Alabama, where she was raised by her father and stepmother. April's family moved frequently, and much of her youth was spent adjusting to new environments and finding new groups of friends. In her high school senior year, she returned to Philadelphia to live with her birth mother.
April went on to take some university courses following high school, majoring in English and Biology, but soon found that her part-time job at McDonald's just didn't cut it when it came to paying the bills. At age 18, spurred on by a newspaper ad, she went to audition for a job dancing at a local strip club. She was hired, and it wasn't long before she was chosen as a feature girl at a larger club, her income increasing substantially.
Although the money April earned dancing was plentiful (enough to afford her certain physical upgrades at the age of 20), the politics of the strip-club industry soon began to take their toll on her. Opting to give a shot at fitness modeling, April appeared in a number of fitness magazine spreads and was eventually offered the position of Met-RX spokesmodel, which she accepted.
Opportunities led to further opportunities, and April took advantage of all of them. She posed for illustrators, and her image appeared in such comic magazines as VampErotica. She worked as a Vegas showgirl, and appeared on the "I used to be bony, but now I'm buff" episode of daytime talk show, Jenny Jones. |
