 |
| Amy is bold enough to strut her stuff for the most testosterone-buzzed crowds in existence. Even more impressive, she is always perfectly smooth, professional, and, most of all, smoking hot. |
 |
| The first female ring announcer in the history of boxing, Amy has blazed her own trail through masculine terrain. Prior to and concurrent to her announcing career, she has modeled extensively for such attention-getting publications as Play.boy and Maxim. |

Born in Wyandotte, Michigan, near Detroit, on November 24th, 1973, Amy Hayes was born to be a broadcaster -- her father was one. Her school days found her portraying the classic tomboy role, playing basketball and softball. She became interested in boxing during her teen years, and after a first gig as a ring card girl, decided right then to become the world's first female ring announcer. The rest is history.
As one might suppose, the road to Amy's spotlight announcements on cable was not easily followed. After she had decided to dedicate herself to announcing, she delved into the promotional work surrounding her chosen sport -- public relations, emceeing pre-show fights, managing ring card girls, doing general gopher work. She has credited her time as a Hawaiian Tropic girl as one of her prime learning experiences.
Making contacts all along, Amy was never shy about letting her ambition be known. Finally, in the mid-'90s, a promoter for a company called Fight Night Inc. let her give the microphone a shot; she was, of course, a natural. As well, she had had so much experience with pre-fight events that she was already perfectly professional.
So she was hired for a WCW Monday Night Nitro event, and that same week she made the news for her part in a skit with Dennis Rodman, which was controversial because the star athlete had missed an important training camp to be there. Both of these news items caught the eye of promoter Bobby Hitz, who helped her in her cause. |
