Hoffman played Reverend Veasey in the acclaimed drama Cold Mountain (2003), co-starring Jude Law and Nicole Kidman, and received a second Tony nod for Long Day's Journey into Night.
In March of 2003, his relationship with costume designer Mimi O'Donnell produced a son, Cooper Alexander.
Hoffman's career-defining portrayal of Truman Capote in 2005's Capote earned him his strongest reviews to date, and the acclaim translated into his triumphant winning of top industry honors including the Golden Globe, SAG, L.A.
