Patrick Stewart
His Words
“There are Klingon grammar books and so forth, though it always seemed to me that Worf never really understood much about grammar anyway, but that particular obsession with aspects of Star Trek was always something of a mystery to me.”
- Patrick Stewart

What Makes Him so Famous?
Stewart always brings a sense of depth and gravity to his roles, regardless of the project. Reflecting upon his seven years spent on Star Trek: The Next Generation, he recalls, “I played scenes with an oil slick, I played a scene with a grain of rice... I remember having a conversation with something which was simply a smell, that's all. It was part of our job.”
Back Stage
For seven years and 178 episodes Patrick Stewart boldly guided the U.S.S. Enterprise on Star Trek: The Next Generation. Since leaving the main bridge, he’s starred in the phenomenally successful X-Men franchise as Professor Charles Xavier and has lent his distinctive baritone to a host of cartoon classics.
Forcaste
Fortunately, the end of the Star Trek franchise also brought a tremendous new opportunity as Stewart was cast in the pivotal role of Professor Charles Xavier in the first of three X-Men movies in 2000. As he recalls, “[ X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner] showed me the first comic book and there was this bald guy in a wheelchair. I could see why she might have been interested in me.”

Luckily, audiences were also interested in him and both X-Men (2000) and X2 (2003) proved to be box-office gold. To date, the two films have raked in over $702 million worldwide. Since then, Stewart starred in Chicken Little (2005), while also making memorable guest appearances on Frasier, Family Guy and American Dad, where he plays Avery Bullock, Deputy Director of the CIA. He also appeared in the third installment of the X-Men francise, X-Men: The Last Stand (2006).

Stewart has also been the Chancellor of the University of Huddersfield since 2004. Located in the small town of Huddersfield, England, the university is home to approximately 20,000 students. As Chancellor, Stewart presides over graduation ceremonies, gives workshops for drama students and lectures on Shakespeare.
