| How can we not like Marco Antonio Solis, who shrugs off his great fame and is reluctant to take credit no matter how many awards and platinum records he receives? We admire any rock star who's been around the block but has the sense to act his age, and Solis is no different. |

| Marco Antonio Solis first became a superstar as the leader of Los Bukis, the Mexican pop group. He's since gone on to become just as famous throughout Latin America and even the United States as a solo singer-songwriter of adult contemporary music. |

Marco Antonio Solis' solo career, unlike those of many other leaders of popular groups, proved to be an even greater success than his Los Bukis years. Over the last 10 years, Solis has had 12 titles on the Billboard Top Latin albums chart, including four No. 1 titles and nine on the Top 10. In 2004, he received two Premio Lo Nuestro awards, including Album of the Year for Tu Amor o Tu Desprecio (2003). Razon de Sobra debuted at No. 1 in 2004, and the album itself earned Solis more than a handful of Latin Billboard Award nominations in 2005.
Solis has, thanks to this massive exposure, become a fixture in Latin media. His music has been featured on Hispanic TV shows like Serafin and Salome, and his hit song "Si No Te Hubieras Ido" was featured in the award-winning Mexican film, Y Tu Mama Tambien (2001).
Solis' popularity throughout the Americas has yet to diminish, as a 2004 tour saw him performing to sell-out crowds from Buenos Aires to New York City. Most recently, Solis took home the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2005 Billboard Latin Music Awards, capping off a spectacular career of over 30 years -- although by all indications, it's a career that's far from over. |
