"I consider myself a centrist, I suppose, but I basically believe in trying to preserve as much opportunity for the individual, as long as that individual chooses to work as hard as he can."

| When it came to making such a pretentious character like Frasier actually likable and fun to watch, Kelsey Grammer definitely had the magic touch. |
 |
Grammer originated the role of psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane on NBC's smash sitcom Cheers in 1984. When that show ended its 11-season run in 1993, he jumped right into the starring role of the equally popular spin-off Frasier, which also ran for 11 seasons, ending in 2004.
In addition to his 20-year tenure as the bombastic Dr. Crane, Grammer has starred in such films as Down Periscope (1996) and HBO's The Pentagon Wars (1998), and he provided the voice for the maniacal Sideshow Bob on The Simpsons. |
 |
In 2004, after portraying Dr. Crane for 20 years, the end of an era came when production of Frasier ended. Kelsey’s son, Jude Gordon, was born that August, and Grammer played Ebenezer Scrooge in a made-for-TV production of A Christmas Carol. In 2005, he concentrated on producing for TV, becoming an executive producer for Medium and Fox's The Sketch Show, which he hosts.
He also directed the pilot for a show called Out of Practice, voiced Sideshow Bob for an eighth time and played Mr. Skibness in the feature The Good Humor Man. In 2006, Grammer appeared as Dr. Henry McCoy, a.k.a. Beast, in X-Men: The Last Stand, and as Detective Brunner in Even Money. |
