"We just enjoy ourselves and I think the tightness comes from just knowing each other. No two takes in the studio ever sound the same either, when we're in there, so it's sort of the same thing. No two nights repeat themselves too much."

| By becoming road warriors, connecting with fans, and sticking to a mantra of "fresh, catchy and eclectic," Dave Matthews and his band have become a welcome mainstay in many college students' sound systems. Thanks to live performances that are creatively different at each venue (there's a reason the Dave Matthews Band has released a slew of successful live albums), Matthews has cultivated a following that extends from students all the way to their parents and grandparents. |

| After Dave and Co. founded the band in 1991, extensive local touring and an independent release helped them get signed to RCA. The Dave Matthews Band (DMB) delivered the goods with the hit "What Would You Say" and an album that was certified four times platinum in the United States. Subsequent albums Crash, Before These Crowded Streets and Everyday continued the trend of high sales, while the band toured North America and the world time and again. Matthews' first solo release, Some Devil (2004), earned him a Grammy for the single "Gravedigger." |

After the Dave Matthews Band earned the title of the country's highest-grossing tour in 2000, Dave and his posse of musicians released Everyday in February of 2001. The album spawned hits (and videos) like "I Did It" and "The Space Between." A few tours, three live albums and a fifth studio album (2002's Busted Stuff) later, the band had released enough material to last a lifetime. Amazingly, Dave was not worn out.
Married with twin daughters, he looked toward acting as a release. He landed a lead role in Where the Red Fern Grows, a production that never saw the light of day due to financial issues (although it was screened at 2003's Tribeca Film Festival), and a starring role in Because of Winn-Dixie, with Jeff Daniels (2005).
With the energy of Superman, Dave never considers taking a break. In 2003, his solo debut, Some Devil, earned him a Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance thanks to the hit "Gravedigger." In 2004, DMB released Live at The Gorge, a CD and DVD set of their 2002 concerts at Washington State's scenic Gorge. Think Dave will slow down in the future? Not bloody likely, especially as the Dave Matthews Band released Stand Up in May of 2005. |
