| One of the planet’s finest singer/songwriters, Bono has been the face of U2 since 1976. Since that time, the beloved Irish band has sold over 100 million albums and has won 22 Grammy Awards. “U2 is an original species,” he proudly declares. “There are colors and feelings and emotional terrain that we occupy that is ours and ours alone.” In addition to his own musical pursuits, Bono has also penned songs for fellow luminaries such as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash, Keith Richards, and Luciano Pavarotti, among others. |

Bono firmly believes that his responsibilities go beyond the arena of rock and roll. “As a rock star, I have two instincts,” he explains. “I want to have fun, and I want to change the world.”
Luckily, he’s managed to do both. His tireless efforts to relieve third-world debt and promote global AIDS awareness were recognized with a Nobel Peace Prize nomination in 2003 and Time Magazine named him one of their three Persons of the Year in 2005, along with Bill and Melinda Gates. “The world is more malleable than you think,” he says. “We can bend it into a better shape. Ask big questions, demand big answers.” |

Bono and U2 are still bringing music to the masses. Their Vertigo Tour is scheduled to take them to Australia, New Zealand and Japan before they wrap things up in Honolulu in early December.
Bono’s song “Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own” will also appear in the 2006 film Becoming Family: A Tsunami Relief Documentary. |
