Since leaving the world of politics in 2001 (following the end of his second term as president), Clinton hasn't slowed down in the slightest and remains a prominent fixture in the public eye. The establishment of the William J. Clinton Foundation is certainly one of Clinton's more outwardly altruistic endeavors, as the organization is devoted to improving the quality of life for citizens in America and around the world. This is in addition to the Clinton Global Initiative, which seeks to bring together the world's leaders in an effort to alleviate some of the more pressing problems around the globe.

Finally, Clinton's stellar and compassionate work during the Hurricane Katrina disaster, along with former President George H.W. Bush, was singled out by Democrats and Republicans alike.

Back Stage

In addition to his ongoing public speaking engagements, Clinton remains a fixture within the world of politics. With November 2006 bringing a series of elections around the country, Clinton has started to back a few favored Democrats (including New York's Congressional District candidate Michael Arcuri).

Although Clinton hit 60 back in August, he's planning a huge birthday blowout for late October in which the Rolling Stones are scheduled to play (the celebration will double as a fundraiser for his foundation).

William Jefferson Clinton is generally considered to be one of the most influential presidents of the 20th century, and is responsible for implementing a wide variety of societal and institutional changes that continue to be praised to this day.
