Quote

The best thing about acting is that I get to lose myself in another character and actually get paid for it. It's a great outlet. As for myself, I'm not sure who I am. It seems that I change every day.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Why He's No. 41

Leo has received praise and award nominations for his choice of difficult parts such as Arnie in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" (1993), Jim Carroll in "The Basketball Diaries" (1995) and Rimbaud in "Total Eclipse" (1995). He cemented his place in Hollywood hearts and minds as Jack Dawson in the highest grossing film to date, "Titanic" (1997).

Back Stage

Leonardo DiCaprio (full name Leonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio) was born on November 11, 1974 in Los Angeles, California, United States. He is a three-time Academy Award-nominated,SAG Award-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning American actor who garnered world wide fame for his role as Jack Dawson in Titanic (1997). He is the only son of George DiCaprio, who is an underground comic artist and distributor of comic books, and Irmelin Indenbirken is a former legal secretary. During his teen years, he lived at 1874 Hillhurst Avenue, Los Feliz district of Los Angeles, California (which was later converted into a local public library) and his mother worked several jobs to support them. He attended John Marshall High School, a few blocks away, before attending the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. His acting career started in 1989 but he became famous when he received the role in "Titanic" in 1997. Other roles he had until now were in movies like "Gangs of New York", "Catch Me If You Can", "Blood Diamond", "The Departed" or "The Aviator". He posed for many magazines until now and also won many awards. In 2005 he won the Golden Globe award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Drama with the role in "The Aviator". Between 2002 and 2005 he had a romantic relationship with Gisele Bundchen. His career is now a successful one and there is no doubt it will continue being this way many years from now on. Besides being talented and intelligent he is also a handsome guy and women would love dating him. He participates at many charity actions and likes helping others. Following a relatively tame 2007 that saw Leonardo DiCaprio release his climate-change documentary The 11th Hour, the iconic A-lister teamed up with fellow icons Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe for the real-life spy thriller Body of Lies (2008). Leonardo finished up 2008 by re-teaming with Titanic costar Kate Winslet in the suburban drama Revolutionary Road, a project that landed him yet another Golden Globe nomination. As for the future, look for Leonardo DiCaprio's latest project with legendary director Martin Scorsese -- a 1950s thriller entitled Shutter Island -- to be released in the second half of 2009.

Forcaste

At age five, Leonardo Di'Caprio appeared on the educational children's TV series "Romper Room" and was nearly thrown off for misbehaving. After several commercials and a recurring "Growing Pains" (1985) role, his big break came with "This Boy's Life" (1993). He co-starred with Robert DeNiro and Ellen Barkin and was well on his way to super-stardom as a teen heart-throb.
