Biography

Raised in a small Canadian town, Rachel McAdams began skating competitively at age 4. At 13, she was performing Shakespeare at summer camp. Always artistically inclined, Rachel studied theater at Toronto's York University and graduated with honors and a Bachelor of Fine Arts.



Her professional acting career began in 2001 when she appeared on the Disney TV series The Famous Jett Jackson. Her next project was a lead role in the short-lived TV series, Shotgun Love Dolls (2001), followed by a small role in an episode of Earth: Final Conflict (2002). Her portfolio expanded with projects such as My Name Is Tanino (2002), Perfect Pie (2002), The Hot Chick (2002), the Canadian television series Slings and Arrows (2003), The Notebook (2004), and Mean Girls (2004). The latter two were stand-out performances and solidified her up-and-coming status in Hollywood.
