PAULINA GRETZKY

"Where I live around no one's pressured me to be Wayne Gretzky's daughter. Where my parents have brought me up my entire life no one's pressured me, and now I think is the time to show that I have talent as well as my family and they've just brought me up so well."

Biography

Paulina Mary Jean Gretzky was born on December 19, 1988, in Los Angeles, California, the eldest of five children born to famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky and his wife, actress Janet Jones. In 1997, she moved with her family to New York City, where she attended the Nightingale-Bamford School before being admitted to the American Ballet Theater school. In 2000, Paulina made her screen debut when she took a small role in the comedic short, In God We Trust; she was only 12 years old at the time.

Three years later, she made her television singing debut at the National Hockey League's Heritage Classic weekend. The centerpiece of the November 2003 event was an alumni game between the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens; Paulina sang the night before to a crowd of approximately 8,000 people. Paulina performed again on game day, singing Sarah McLachlan's "I Will Remember You" to a stadium packed with over 57,000 fans.

She received a standing ovation for her effort. She made another singing appearance in 2004, singing the Canadian national anthem during the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto.

She made her modelling debut on the August 2005 cover of Flare. She and Janet appear in the movie Alpha Dog.
