On 26 May, there was a surprise ending as, Lee DeWyze, 24 year old guitar rocker, was crowned as the winner of the ninth season of "American Idol".
The winning results was show on Wednesday night, the 24 year old Illinois native topped Ohioan Crystal Bowersox during a two-hour special. The show was at Los Angeles Nokia Theatre, in front of an estimated TV audience of 21 million viewers across the U.S. and Canada.
After two excruciating, host Ryan Seacrest finally read DeWyze's name. DeWyze fell to his knees and blew into his hand in relief, before being rushed and embraced by the other Idol contestants. DeWyze won over five month's season long front runner Crystal Bowersox, a talented folksinger styled after Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez.
Lee DeWyze after winning the title said "This is amazing, I am so happy now, there are no words to describe it."
Proceeding on, Lee thanked his family, friends and avid voting fan base before graciously complimenting his competitor, Crystal.
