KATE WINSLET WINS $25,000 AGAINST DAILY MAIL

Hollywood actress Kate Winslet won lawsuit against U.K. Daily Mail, newspaper's claim that she had lied about her exercise regime.

The Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet won more than $40,000 in damages when she won a libel suit against the U.K. Daily Mail after the newspaper had the temerity to suggest she is not lazy. The actress will donate her winnings to charity but the real truth of the story is about the issue surrounding diet, exercise and how women should accept themselves for who they are.

The issue started in last January, when mail had published news, Should Kate Winslet Win an Oscar for the World's Most Irritating Actress and they also published nude pictures of the actress next to the story. While actress was not present in court for the actual verdict, her representative at the time indicated the article offended Ms Winslet and also created "a great deal of distress."

After the verdict she stated, actress said "I am delighted that the Mail has apologized for making false allegations about me. I was particularly upset to be accused of lying about my exercise regime and felt that I had a responsibility to request an apology in order to demonstrate my commitment to the views that I have always expressed about body issues including diet and exercise."

She added "I strongly believe that women should be encouraged to accept themselves as they are, so to suggest that I was lying was an unacceptable accusation of hypocrisy."
