JULIA ROBERTS UNAWARE OF MOTHER'S HEART ATTACK
Hollywood actress Julia Robert's mother is recovering after undergoing an emergency surgery following a reported heart attack last month while her daughter was filming in India.The "Pretty Woman" actress mother Betty, 75, was admitted to a hospital near her home in Atlanta, Georgia, where doctors performed an angioplasty procedure. Roberts was filming in India and had no idea about her mother's health scare, reports newsagency.
Roberts was only notified about it after her operation because the news allegedly took too long to filter through her heavy security. "Julia was relieved to hear that her mother had undergone surgery and was recovering. But when she found out it took a day and a half for her family to get through her intense security, she absolutely exploded," said a source.
"Betty was lucky to undergo the procedure when she did, because if she hadn't, she could have died. The situation became even more dire when Julia's family tried to reach her and could not. Julia had no clue what was going on. By the time she got the news, her mother was stabilised and well into recovery," the source added.
The shock reportedly left Roberts in tears and she reprimanded the film staff about the intense security on the set.
"Initially, Julia freaked out and began crying. Ultimately, she grew enraged when she found out how long it took her to get the news. Julia railed at them (movie crew), 'When your own family can't get through to you, that's too much security! My mum could have been dead, and I might have been the last one in the world to know about it." said another insider.
"Julia said she'd rather have no security at all than go through an episode like that again" She only calmed down when she talked to her mother herself, and was sure that she was out of the woods," the insider added. Roberts had been shooting for - Eat, Pray, Love at Pataudi, in Haryana in India, and is now in Bali for more shoots.

Everyone has come to recognize Julia Roberts' million-dollar smile. Julie Fiona Roberts was born on October 28, 1967, in Smyrna, Georgia. The daughter of a vacuum salesman and a church secretary, Julia is not the only Roberts sibling to pursue an acting career. Her brother and sister were also aspiring actors, albeit not as famous as Julia -- in fact, few even know their names. As a 17-year-old girl with big dreams, Julia headed to the Big Apple to join her actress sister, Lisa. Starting out as a model in order to make a living, Julia took acting classes on the side in order to perfect her trade. She finally received her big break after her brother, B-movie actor Eric Roberts, convinced a director to cast his little sister in the film Blood Red.
Fours years passed between the production of Blood Red and its release, over the span of which Julia found television work on such series as Crime Story and Miami Vice. In 1988, she landed roles in the films Satisfaction and Mystic Pizza. Her role in the latter did not go unnoticed, and audiences and critics alike would soon remember the name Julia Roberts (who actually changed her name from Julie to Julia when she applied for a SAG card, to distinguish herself from another actress registered under the same name). In 1990, Oscar acknowledged Julia's work in Steel Magnolias by honoring her with a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
With My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) Julia gave the genre fresh life that had been lacking in Hollywood for some time. Offscreen, after a brief marriage, Julia has been romantically linked with several other actors. Julia has also become involved with UNICEF charities and has made visits to many different countries, including Haiti and India, in order to promote goodwill.
