STARS COME OUT FOR FASHIONS NIGHT OUT

Fashion Night Out drew in the shopping crowds for the chance to have a supermodel ring up your sale, be serenaded by a Gossip Girl and rub elbows with Manhattans glitterati. In the West Village, Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen and band The Pretty Reckless played to a mixed crowd at Teen Vogues block party on Perry and Bleecker picture lots of 10-year-olds in the front row, Blackberry in one hand and digital camera in the other. Earlier in the evening, choreographer JaQuel Knight, up for an MTV Video Music Award this Sunday for Beyonce Single Ladies,taught The Barbie dance to shoppers, a shimmy inspired by sponsor Mattel. Momsen, a.k.a. Little J, fronted the band with her usual smoky eyes and mussed hair circa early 90s Courtney Love. She was wearing an outfit made of little more than a men shirt, stockings and what seemed to be sequined hot shorts. The band was surprisingly decent, in a punchy, indie punk-lite kind of way, and Momsen even joined her bandmates on guitar for one song. Rag & Bone, with help from the Brass Monkey bar, converted its Christopher Street men shop into an Irish pub for the evening, complete with sawdust on the floor, some banjo performance and mugs of Guinness.
