What makes her so famous?
Lori Loughlin was seen by millions during her three-year run on the daytime drama The Edge of Night (1980-'83). She's best remembered as Rebecca Donaldson on the long-running comedy Full House (1988-'95), and is currently both star and producer of the WB's family drama Summerland.
Why we adore her..., as we do?
Lori Loughlin reminds us of a sweet and innocent girl-next-door type who has come of age and is way less innocent than she appears on the surface.
Biography
Lori Ann Loughlin (pronounced "lock-lin") was born on July 28, 1965, in Queens, New York, and grew up in the town of Hauppauge, Long Island. She began modeling when she was 12, initially as a print model in national campaigns for companies like Sears and Bradlees.

She soon made the move to television ads, and started taking acting lessons when she was 14. The lessons paid off when only a few months later, she landed her first big acting gig when she was cast as Jody Travis on the ABC daytime soap, The Edge of Night.

Right before getting the role, she appeared in her first movie, the made-for-TV film Too Far to Go (1979). She was the producer's original choice to play Emmeline, the female lead in The Blue Lagoon (1980), but Loughlin turned it down and it became the role that made Brooke Shields a star. Urged by fellow The Edge of Night actor Joel Crothers, the young actress set her sights on a career beyond daytime drama.

After three and a half years on the soap, Loughlin left in 1983 to pursue film work. She appeared in several features, including the horror flick Amityville 3-D (1983), the thriller The New Kids (1985), the romantic comedy Secret Admirer (1985), Rad (1986), a film about BMX racing, and the beach-movie spoof Back to the Beach (1987).

Her TV film work included North Beach and Rawhide (1985), Brotherhood of Justice (1986), and Babies Having Babies (1986), a CBS Schoolbreak Special. She also made a couple of guest appearances on the detective drama, The Equalizer (1986-'87).

In 1988, Loughlin landed the role that made her a regular guest in the homes of millions of TV viewers. As Rebecca "Becky" Donaldson Katsopolis, girlfriend and later wife of John Stamos' character on the ABC sitcom Full House, Loughlin became a weekly TV fixture over the next seven seasons.

During her time on the show, she kept busy with several made-for-TV movies, most notably No Means No (1988) and Doing Time on Maple Drive (1992), which also featured up-and-comer Jim Carrey. She also appeared in Empty Cradle (1993), Sidney Sheldon's A Stranger in the Mirror (1993), One of Her Own (1994), and Abandoned and Deceived (1995).

After Full House ended production in 1995, Loughlin was cast as series regular Melanie Clifford in the short-lived Hudson Street (1995), which starred Tony Danza. More made-for-television movies followed, including The Price of Heaven (a.k.a. Blessed Assurance, 1996), In the Line of Duty: Blaze of Glory, as well as the miniseries Medusa's Child (both 1997). During this time she also made guest appearances on several top-rated sitcoms, including Seinfeld (the "Serenity Now" episode), The Larry Sanders Show and Suddenly Susan.

After wrapping the made-for-cable movie Suckers (1999), Loughlin took a couple of years off to start a family. Loughlin married fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli in 1997; daughter Isabella Rose was born in September 1998, while Olivia Jade followed a year later. She is also stepmother to Gianni, Giannulli's son from a previous marriage.

Loughlin returned to the screen in 2000, co-starring with Treat Williams and Udo Kier in the action-thriller Critical Mass. In 2001, she turned in a couple of guest appearances on Spin City, and did likewise on The Drew Carey Show in 2002. That same year, she appeared on the WB drama Birds of Prey and guest starred as herself in the ABC pilot Wednesday 9:30 (8:30 Central), which never got off the ground.

In 2003, she helped develop a new series for the WB, which would make her a starring regular on a weekly drama.

The Warner Brothers network had expressed interest in creating a series for Loughlin, and she decided to come up with a concept that interested her. She came up with the idea of a single woman in California who works in the fashion world, and whose life suddenly changes when she must raise her sister's three kids from Kansas.

After several months in the development stages, Summerland premiered in June 2004. In addition to starring as Ava Gregory, Loughlin also serves as the show's executive producer.
